The Role

Software Quality Assurance Engineers (QAEs) test code at the user level, both manually and with automated tools. Our QAEs use black box, gray box, and white box testing techniques; they can understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests and/or user-level test automation tools. QAEs work with Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementation.

QAEs also work with groups such as Product Management, User Experience Design, and Customer Support to understand customer usage models and develop test plans and test suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests. QAEs are also responsible for driving the software development process toward quality-centric methodologies.

As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer in Automation, you will work with consumer application testing expertise. You will join the team of hands-on, pro-active, self-motivated, and seasoned QA professionals. This role requires relocation to an AIQ regional hub. In this role, you will:

• Develop and execute automated tests and test plans
• Efficiently execute test cases across all functional areas of our products
• Review product user interface for conformity to design guidelines
• Find, isolate, document, regress, and track bugs through resolution
• Interpret and report testing results, and be a vocal proponent for quality in every phase of the development process
• Work with Software Development Engineers to understand the overall technical architecture and how each feature is implemented
• Ensure the highest quality product delivery, working with a team of quality engineering professionals
• Evaluate product functionality and create test strategies and test cases to assess product quality.
• Evaluating and integrate open source and in house developed toolsets

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ year of experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer
• Experience in manual testing
• Experience in automation testing
• Bachelor’s Degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Design metrics and figures-of-merit to guide touch design and performance tracking.
• Define a test methodology across different products. Analyze touch system performance vs. expected results
• Develop quality validation and characterization plans for Amazon’s Touch solutions, from proof-of-concept to mass production.
• Experience working with one or more of the following sensors: ALS, accelerometer, gyroscope, camera.
• Working with sensor equipment vendors to design the perfect equipment from scratch for calibrating and verifying the performance of Amazon products
• Shows creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness
• Comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings

Product Replenishment QA (PRQA) org owns the quality assurance and release management support for all the customer-facing features across Subscribe & Save(SnS), Replenishment Services & Innovation (RSI) & Subscription and Discovery Box(SnDBox) that gets delivered to our customers.

The Role

We are looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy Quality Assurance Technician (QAT) to work on functional testing, both manually and with automated tools. QAT’s at Amazon are excellent individual contributors capable of taking on tasks of test case execution from start to completion with minimal help.

QAT’s are responsible for understanding the product in detail, and updating the test case tool with test execution results. They write and maintain black-box test cases based on well-defined feature requirements, writing test cases that are high quality, high value, and maintainable.

QAT’s also have experience with gray box, and white box testing techniques; they are able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files and reproduce errant product behavior to assist developers or other testers and identify, track, and accurately report defects found. QAT’s produce good reproducible defect reports to verify fixed bugs are truly fixed. Develop and execute automated tests and test plans.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience of 2 or more years
• Demonstrated experience working as part of a team against deadlines with multiple stakeholders
• Demonstrated use at the consumer level of software, computers, and devices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to partner with internal team members effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Sustained coursework, or certificate of completion in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Attention to details and ability to root cause important issues impacting process or customers
• Demonstrated experience prioritizing your own work with limited guidance from your manager or peers
• Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in testing a customer-facing application.
• Strong organizational skills, tracking multiple projects simultaneously, and be able to synthesize the results
• Street smarts; willingness to roll up the sleeves and do whatever is necessary to meet team goals
